Kansas Rules & Information

These Rules & Information are provided as a convenience to ReptiDay vendors and exhibitors, and may not be comprehensive for every animal. Each vendor is responsible for researching and complying with all current laws regarding their animals.

All out-of-state vendors will need a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) for all animals entering the State of Kansas dated within the previous 30 days.

A dangerous animal permit is required for animals deemed dangerous by the city. This includes snakes which present a risk of serious physical harm or death to humans, and other "dangerous animals" as defined in OPMC 6.10.010 (Link here)
To get a dangerous animal permit, you must contact the City Clerk's Office, 913-895-6150.
The fee for a permit application shall be $20 for one dangerous animal plus an additional $5 for
two or more dangerous animals. The total fee shall not exceed $25 for any one permit
application and is nonrefundable.

Animal Restrictions:
No venomous Alligators, Crocodiles, or large exotic zoo-type animals. Also boids must be properly secured per the following:
"It shall be unlawful for any person to maintain, keep or possess any snake of
the family Boidae, including but not limited to pythons, boa constrictors or anacondas
unless such snake is confined in a safe, secure and completely enclosed location at all
times"
